The Uninvited Guest

I thought I should mention, that if you are visiting to link up with Mom n' Me Monday, the lady here at the Peanut Gallery is taking a small hiatus from her own meme.  Yes, I'm sure that is inappropriate blog behavior. However, I am extremely afraid of  "blogging" commitment in the summer.  I explained it a little more here.

**************************************

Now, because we love the outdoors here at the Peanut Gallery...
And because my children have never learned to close a door.
We discovered that a little birdie was paying us  visit.

I must say, it was a bit disconcerting.
Having a bird circling your head is not as "magical" as one might think.
Now, if it had landed on my shoulder...that would have been magical.
But no, this little birdie was desperate to escape the prison he had so unknowingly stumbled into.

After last year's incident,
the one where a little bird flew into our window with such gusto,
that he immediately fell dead to the ground...
I was not enjoying the antics of this little birdie.
He kept madly crashing into the plethora of windows in our dining room.
I was sure he was killing brain cells with each crushing blow.

We opened the window, hoping his next flight would earn his freedom.
However, he wasn't buying it.
Apparently this little birdie "learned" from his mistakes.
He flew into my kitchen and found this comfortable little spot up under the cabinets.
Can you find the him in this picture??
It's kind of like a "where's Waldo".

Here's a closer look.
Because he's cute and all.
In all my wisdom, I figured it would be best to leave him alone for awhile.
Surely he would eventually find his way to one of the open doors or windows.

As you can see, D-man had a different feeling about the matter.
However, after many failed attempts to get Mr. Birdie out from behind the cabinets, he gave up and went back outside.
Tonight, as far as we know, Mr. Birdie is no longer behind the cabinet.
It is my sincere hope that he is nestled comfortably into his nest.
But, just to be safe, I'm sleeping with my head under the covers tonight.
Does Alfred Hitchock's "The Birds" ring a bell?

*********************************************

I am sad to say, I am taking a self inflicted blogging break this week.
I'm on the war path.
Watch out clutter and disorganization.
You have lived your last days here in my home.
It is my goal to tackle every drawer in this home.
Just typing that makes me cringe.
But I must!
If I am to remain sane.

Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind.
On the blogging, that is!

So goodbye, for now, parting is such sweet sorrow.

Good luck with your cleaning! I am on the same mission. I want a place for everything and everything in its place!!! Or something like that.

Oh I so hope that bird got out! Birds actually really freak me out, and I would not be a fan of one in my house at all!

I love the picture of your husband on the cabinets. Your life sometimes looks as nutty as mine!
How is the duck, by the way? It's like y'all have the makings of a fine aviary!
You will be missed! I need to follow your lead. But, wouldn't know where to begin!

Have a great "cleaning" week Julie.. that's actually not a bad idea and since it looks like a rainy day here - I should really do the same. Perhaps I'll do a 'cleaning-day' - a weeks seems like a LONG time :)

til next week...

Hope your bird was able to find his way out. Good luck on the draws. I need to do that so desperately. I just can't imagine getting anything done with two kids home all day in my house. Maybe when summer camp starts I can get some organizing accomplished.

Look forward to reading all about your cleaning frenzy.

See ya later, 'gator! Should we take bets about if you can stay away for a whole week? ;)

Hahahahahaha, yikes! Good luck finding the birdie - I guess it could be worse... he could be a huge bird, right? We had a humming bird stuck in our house once... the thing stabbed me a few times with it's beak before I could usher it back inside and I duck and scream like a sissy now when humming birds buzz by me. Sad, right? And good luck de-cluttering and cleaning!

OMGosh! Good luck with the bird thing. That can get annoying.

I'm am right there with you on cleaning the draws thing!!! I did 1/2 my house this weekend. Baby steps, I tell ya. One room at a time.

I love the pictures!! We had a bird in our house once and it totally freaked me out! And it was really hard to encourage it to go out the door! Your little guy seemed to have found a safe hiding place though! Good luck with your clutter. Mine seems to multiply when I'm not looking!

Oh Julie, my Julie! The Birds. Yes...terror in the form of a 2 oz feathered little being.

Of course, I finally make my way here...just to learn you will be MIA. Tear rolls down the cheek. Ah well. I understand more than anyone.

That first little picture of your "friend" made me let out a loud "Awww". I'm sure if it was in my home, I'd want it back in it's own habitat... but I have to say 'it sure is cute to have little unexpected company.'

He's so cute! But, all I could think about was what kind of "presents" he's leaving y'all.

Good luck with the cleaning! We just started this past weekend. It's going to be a looooooooooonnnnnnng haul until we get this bad boy under control!

Good luck!

I think most of us are taking little blogging breaks this summer to spend time...doing whatever we need to do with all the kids home!

Oh I am terrribly afraid of birds. A bird in the house would put me over the edge!!

Have fun with your organizing. I've been doing some of the same lately. It feels so good to check things off the list!

Girl, your house is like Jack Hannah's Wild Kingdom! There's always something fun and interesting cooking over there! Good luck with the cleaning...I once had a bird fly into my classroom. My third graders loved it, but I was less than thrilled! Hope you're having a great week!

I totally applaud your goals to de-clutter and organize. I should clearly take the hint and do the same . . . hmmmm . . . maybe tomorrow! See you upon your return! ;)

As I read this, I thought of the movie. As old as that movie is, it freaked me out when I watched it. I can't stand it when birds are flying around me!

Your bird was cute though!

Found you at Julie's (foursons)...

Bird situation, very funny! We have a bird named birdie and we let her take flight everynight. Her wings are so loud when she flies around but it is fun when she land on my shoulder. I am also searching and destroying clutter! No more junk drawers welcomed in my home! Good luck with your mission

Parting is such sweet sorrow, but decluttering is a noble endeavour. Good luck with that and I hope the bird is back with its family without pooping on anything in your house!

I'd freak out a little bit over the bird. That is pretty funny!

Enjoy your week of clutter free-ness!!

Julie, what wonderful photos :) they always make me smile. Good for you on tackling those drawers! My DH calls me the "pile" woman, as much as I dislike it, he's right. It seems there is always a pile im trying to get rid of around here!

Thanks again for leaving your thoughtful comments, they mean a lot. I hope I didnt offend anyone with that comment about "normal" moms {whats normal anyway!} I guess I just get a little overwhelmed. Thanks always for your prayers :) HAPPY SUMMER! BIG hugs to those precious littleones of yours. Im sure theyre enjoying this mom time!

Just thought I'd come by and let you know that I've decided it's time for your break to be over. Yep...I've had enough of you being MIA. Can't take it anymore. My blogging life is just not the same. I check for new posts daily by the Peanut Gallery only to be sent on my way with a pat on the head and a "maybe next time dear." Well, I say ENOUGH. Get your booty in gear, and please the masses. I mean, if you want to ;)

Hope you are doing well and getting all organized over there.
Can't wait to see a post from you again...soon. ;)

I was just thinking the same thing today. I need to step away from the computer for a full week. THe disorganization in this house is killing me. And it won't get better it'll just get worse. I have to apologize to my children for the piles of laundry.

A chaotic environment and all that..you know? Just.not.good.

So glad I came over here, you affirmed what I knew already.

I once had a chipmunk wander into my bedroom. I'd have to agree that these things are cute in cartoons, but in real life, the kids were running around and screaming like he was Godzilla!

Also we live in the woods and birds commit birdie-cide pretty regularly on our big windows. Once in a while they hop up and shake their heads and fly again, and we cheer.

:)
