Random craft ideas and a WINNER!

Remember "Shasta"?
DSC_0390

She is about to fly to her new home....
Her home in the desert....
I'm sure she will be in a "daze" when she gets there...
Lucky for her, I know Arizona Mamma will make her feel right at home!

random org

My sincere thanks to the True Random Number Generator!

Speaking of random, I thought I'd share a few random things with you!
And since the weekend is upon us, I thought you might like to "get your craft on"!

First off, you have got to go check out these adorable flip-flops over at
Make It and Love It. Seriously, this lady has an excess of creativity.
I am definitely going to try these.
Maybe.

And what about this. A
sippy cup leash !
Are you kidding me? Why have I not thought of this?
How smart is this lady?
Again, dripping with creativity.

This
one is the answer to the Kleenex company's LACK of creativity.
Why are Kleenex boxes so ugly?
It makes you wonder about their designer.
He/She must live in a cave somewhere.
Shoot, I hope they don't read this blog.
I'm thinkin' we'll be safe on this one.

What about this button ring by Smashed Peas and Carrots
I love short and sweet craft projects.

But then again, D-man thinks I have A.D.D!

Finally, wouldn't these shirts be fun to make with your offspring.

Speaking of making shirts. Here is one I whipped up for L-boy. By whipped up I mean plugged my iron in and ironed-ON.
We like to make things easy around here.
Because, this mommy is most definitely NOT dripping with creativity.

"Stud Muffin" indeed!

**I entered comments 1-22 because 23 was my sister and she didn't want my dumb ole' camera strap. Shocking, I know!

Doesn't everyone need a camera strap cover?

Ahem...there just might be be a give-away involved.

It happened yet again.
I call it my "craft urge".
On Sunday, my
sister and I made our way to the brand new Joanne's Fabric Store. We were armed with about 15 coupons each.
Why, you ask?
Because it's coupon commotion week, of course.
However, this visit was different.
I knew exactly what I wanted to make.
I was not going to be drawn in by all the bells and whistle's.
I was not going to buy fabric to make an apron. (I did)
I was not going to buy baby onesies with the cutest little iron-ons you've ever seen. (I did)
I was going to buy material to make myself two, padded, camera strap covers.
If you own a larger camera, you know that those camera straps DIG.
Yeah, that's right, DIG!
I didn't want fabric that was too cutesy.
I don't want to come across as the complete amateur that I am.

So, I settled on these two textiles.
Don't these just have "I'm serious about taking pictures" written all over them?
Or not!
But, it don't matter.
I like em'.

I used this simple Simon tutorial from Cluck.Cluck.Sew.

I sewed those babies up. I guess I thought I might like "different occasion" camera straps.
I named them "Paisley" and "Shasta".
Boy, do they ever feel luxurious on my neck.

But after I slid Paisley on. I realized, I wouldn't be changing her ever again!! It was a bit of a snug fit. That being said, "Shasta" is looking for a home.

And that is where YOU come into the picture. (no pun intended)
I had this great idea to give one to you!
No, I never plan on selling these.
I am not a seamstress.
I do not guarantee my work.
But, hey, who would turn down a lovely little camera strap, padded with a fleecy soft baby blanket.

O.K., you might if you hated the color.
Or, if you don't have a camera strap to cover.
Or, if you like naked camera straps.
But other than those reasons, I can't see why you wouldn't want this.

It fits a camera strap that is 22 inches long and no more than 2 inches wide.
The red on the strap is quite a bit deeper than it shows in the picture.

So go ahead, leave a comment and you will automatically be entered into my very first give-away.

I might add, that your chances are very good!
Being that this is just an eensy-weensy baby blog, just barely born!
You have through Thursday to enter.

And because this is the "Peanut Gallery". I must add a picture of this peanut!

jed
Something about it is deeply disturbing.
I think I'll name it.."The calm before the storm"

p.s.
Don't all families own a machete?

p.s.s.
I'll be adding a Mr. Mcklinky to next week's Mom n' Me Monday post.
So get in the picture, mamma!
I'd love to see them!

The post to prove progress is being made...

After last weeks confession, I am determined, resolute, steadfast, and unwavering....
summer hat 1

unfaltering, unflinching, pressing toward the goal....
Summer hat 2

Did I mention I'm downright driven to finish this project!

P.S.

I would appreciate it, if no one points out the fact that it has been a full week and this is all I have to show for all that DETERMINATION! So maybe "Driven" was too strong of a word!

I've gone and done it again......

Yes. The title says it all.
I do have a problem.
I like the "idea" of being crafty. It's cool, it's hip, and who doesn't want hand made things?
I often see an item that I love.
It can be dirt cheap.
Will I buy it?
No!
Why?
Because I could make it, OF COURSE! (snicker and a wink)
I have an amazing ability to "gather" supplies for my "pending" craftiness.
One complication.
I have great difficulties when it comes to actually starting the craft...and if I do
manage to start...I have great difficulties finishing the project.
There. I admitted it.
Let's not talk about my gargantuan collection of scrapbooking and stampin' up supplies.
Let's not talk about whether I have ever finished even ONE scrapbook.
Let's not talk about my extensive collection of jewelry making supplies. I did manage to crank out at least 10 pair of ear rings...all of which were sold at our adoption fundraising garage sale.
And I'd really rather not talk about my sewing projects. Most of which have never come to fruition. At least I have the material on hand. And when the time is right, I am sure I will whip out some amazing things that would make you jealous.

But we are not talking about all of those other things today. Today we are talking about knitting.
I got the urge to knit L-boy a little beanie back in November. I noticed that all the "cool" babies are wearing them these days. So my first visit was to Etsy. Don't even get me started on Etsy. I LOVE ETSY. I usually leave that site, determined that I will start my own etsy shop. I found the sweetest little beanies. But, did I buy one? Of course not! $10.00 is much to high of a price to pay for a hand knit beanie. (snicker) I will make one myself. Tomorrow. And that is the way I roll!

The next day, I make a trip to Joanne's to buy supplies. I pay well over ten dollars. That evening I knit a beanie. I must admit, it is cute. The only problem is, it fits no one in my family except for S-girl's cabbage patch doll. So, I quickly begin another one. That is where my story ends. It is still quietly waiting to be finished. I keep it in a bag by my bed. I am waiting for the urge to knit again. It doesn't come.
Until yesterday!
049
What's that you say? No, this is not the unfinished beanie for L-boy. This is a new beanie that I am going to knit for S-girl. Complete with a purple knit flower. I purchased that Sugar n' Cream yarn yesterday! Doesn't it just sound scrumptious? Who wouldn't want to wear a beanie that was created with a yarn called Sugar n' Cream?!!
"Do you know how to knit in the round?", you ask.
To which I reply, "Why, of course not. And no, I have never knit a flower. Why do you ask?"
That is what the library is for, sillly?
Hmmm...which one do think I will resort to??

050

Here lies the "mini beanie" and the unfinished beanie. It often calls my name. But I'm not listening. And NO. I don't know where the other knitting needle is. I have 3 boys!
046

I am hesitant to say that I ordered S-girl a delectable and delicately delicious crocheted beanie with a stunning white rose attached from Briar-Claire for $10.00. Yes, I did that TODAY! And do you want to know why??

Because, there is no way on earth that I could make that myself for $10.00!! Especially, since I don't crochet!

The end!
