Mom n' Me Monday

mom n me jpeg

Mom n' Me Monday was created in an attempt to make myself get in the picture with my kiddos. When my kids are grown, I don't want to look through my photos only to find that I am not in any of them! So, I'm on a mission to "capture" these memories.
********************************************************************************

Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.

Build me a son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be; a son who will know Thee….Lead him, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.

Build me a son whose heart will be clean, whose goal will be high; a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men; one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.

And after all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.
~General Douglas MacArthur

C-boy captured the above photo!!
He has showed quite an interest in my camera lately.
I decided it was time to give him the very first point and shoot digital camera that I owned.
All 2.3 megapixels of it!!
Wow...you should have seen him go.
Of course, he wants me to "blog" his pictures.
Inspite of the brightness of the sun and the darkness of the shadows,
and noise galore,
I love this picture.
Captured by my C-boy.

Wow!!! I LOVE this photo beyond words and the beautiful words you included by MacArthur. I may have to use this in a future post if you don't mind. I turn our blogs to books every year for when the kids are older and would love to have this for the boys. Absolutely gorgeous post in every way!!! Can't believe C-boy took this picture. Give him major cudos from your blog fan, Tracy.

So in love with this!! My 8 year old daughter has a point and click Digital. I agree with what you said about your son getting interesting angles....

We started a private blog for our daughter to post her pictures. She is even doing some amazing stuff with picnik for editing. It is so funny how without knowing the "rules" there is this freedom to create and their eyes know what is pleasing!!!

Well done to your Son!

Okay, after reading what you said about C-boy...I was scrolling down looking for this awful but cute picture. I had NO idea you meant the picture you posted was taken by him. I love it. I think it's great. You may have a true photographer on your hands :)

By the way...I read "Build me a son, oh Lord..." and immediately had tears spring to my eyes. Isn't that the hope and prayer of all moms?

I don't think I got ANY pics with the kids last week but I am going to try to dig up an oldie. :)

He did a great job! I love it. It's actually better than a lot of pictures I take. Most of them, actually. :)

Such a sweet post Julie! And what a great picture! You've got some gifted photographers living under your roof! And that prayer is fabulous!
I had Wayne take pictures this week of Adam and I and they were hideous! Like, I'm joining Weight Watchers and Wayne's taking a photography class hideous! AWFUL! I wouldn't post them, for fear that y'all would think I really looked that bad. Even if I do! It was sobering!
