Mom n' Me Monday was created in an attempt to make myself get in the picture with my kiddos. When my kids are grown, I don't want to look through my photos only to find that I am not in any of them! So, I'm on a mission to "capture" these memories.
****************************************************************************
We spent this weekend on our "de-forestation" project.
Yes, we live in the woods.
By woods I mean, 100's of pine trees and their offspring.
We are trying to "thin out" areas so that the trees that remain can grow strong and healthy.
And that's all I'm gonna say about that.
D-man, with his own two hands, created a great diversion for the kids.
What could be better than a swing, and a launching pad?
The boys have spent hours swinging.
So, I thought I'd join them for a bit.
I feel I should add a small disclaimer on my choice of outfit.
I know it's AandW Rootbeer meets "sporty Susie".
It's why I used a 70's action on all these photos.
Otherwise, the sheer clashing of colors might have sent you on your merry way.
I truly AM concerned about the safety of my children.
TRULY, I AM!
Why, yes, since you asked, that IS a bleach stain my pants.
Is there a problem?
S-girls first try on the flying machine.
Her evil mother insisted.
Poor thing.
I feel bad, I really do.
Did I mention there is a foam pit below??
And at the urging of my offspring and my cheeky husband.
Against my better judgement.
I took the leap of faith...
And rode like the wind.
Due to the size of the branch(or the lack thereof) the rope is tied to,
I am officially making this my first and last ride on the "swing of death".
I choose to remain safely on the ground.
Until my next lapse of judgment, that is.
And, just because I can't help myself.
Do you ever get that feeling like "you're not alone" even when no one is in plain sight?
Well, I had that feeling this evening.
Sure enough, upon further investigation,
I found I WAS NOT ALONE.
This little blood sucking beast had taken up residence on my head.
And that really "ticks" me off!
Yes, I give you permission to cringe at that last play on words.
It is late, and I need sleep.
THE END.
I promise.

These photos are so fun!!
I love the ones of you and S-girl. Her face is too funny in the second one. I would probably be making that face too. :)
Your husband did a great job taking pictures!
That tic is gross!! :) Good thing you found it early!
ok - so I literally LOL several times reading this post - and the pictures are priceless. The swing of death looks like great fun! O - I'm digging the outfit. Really, I am - bleach stain and all. Maybe that's because I could have pulled that out of my closet :-) I once again don't have a mom & me this week, slack, I know.
Looks like you guys had a great time...not sure if I would be able to go on a swing like that :)
Love these photos, you are smart to get these down for memories. It will be gone before you know it!
kim
Can I come over and play??? Swinging into a foam pit? Awesome.
that tick is gross! ew! :) I've never had one on me but Jeremy grew up having them all the time in Iowa. Ew!
Loved the pictures, Julie! What great family fun!
How cool is it that you live in the woods? What an amazing place for your kids to grow up. I'm a little jealous! The swing idea is fantastic. Think of the memories your kids are going to have of growing up.
I like that you just wore what you were wearing for the pictures because I think all of us mom's do that (bleach stains and previous spit up marks included). These pictures are so wonderful. I think my favorite is the one of you swinging back towards the camera. What a view you have and you look like you are having so much fun!
This was a great start to my week. Happy Monday!
Oh this is a wonderfully beautiful post! LOVELY pics! And I love your pants! Are they yoga pants?
Hmmm. I am reconsidering my attire today since you acted like that outfit was so inappropriate. Actually, no...I'm not. I'm perfectly comortable in my ragged mismatched clothes.
Those are some seriously fun pictures. I want a swing like that!! The hill or whatever it is you are over, makes it seem as if the drop off under the swing is like a thousand feet. I am, right now, looking out my back window to see if any trees are in prime swing location ;)
I especially like your happy face as you are swinging back toward the camera, and the picture of you with the little ones. The tick? No words for that.
One more thing...I love your sheer delight at sending S-girl on her terrified way.
You are too funny!!!
Thanks for keeping it real!
BTW, your property has a gorgeous view!!
Julie,
What great photos of you and your kids! Love the bleach stain... ;-)
OMG... are those creepy, crawlies all over the place? I'm such a city girl, I would probably wear my hair in a baseball cap all day long if I lived near you!
Happy Monday!
Looks like you guys were having SO MUCH fun!!!! :)
Fantastic pictures..and oh what fun..!my stomach dropped at your leap into the unknown..looks like a very fun time..especially the view from the swing..breathtaking..and makes the ride all the more fun..!
You are so pretty. I love these pictures. What a fun time. The one of S-girl is awesome but it looks pretty scary. Cool swing!
The shot of S-girl is AMAZING! Seriously. You must live in a gorgeous area, Julie!
Wow you aren't kidding when you say Da-man did build a cool fun new toy for the family!! And look at you, what a fun Mommy you are. Weeee!

What a great post!!! You are hilarious girl. I think I need to make you my friend ;-)
you are so funny!
Great photos...except for the last one, cringe indeed!
At least you have a beautiful view before plunging into the foam pit of death!
I LOVE these pictures! Especially the second one : )
And I can so tell that I live in the city because I totally thought that was a spider. I would be paranoid if I had to live around those things!
Oh my goodness how much fun is that!? It looks like you are flying out over nothing, so cool! Also, on behalf of all stay t home moms, I love the outfit. :) And ticks are so gross, yuck.
I can't believe I almost missed this one!
How COOL is this!
And a post with pics of you in it????? Be still thine beating heart!! ;) LOL!
You did GREAT!
LOVE the view...
God's handiwork is just absolutely breathtaking...
One question, is D-man not up to trying out his own creations??? ;)
