Need a friend?

He's been a great one for almost 14 years.

Ourdogsmall

And he's "feeling" it as of late.
He's so tired.
I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.
But...we'll take as many days as we can get.

the long road

Oh lady... I'm sorry to hear your old friend is feeling his age. Losing a pet is never easy. Hoping you get more good days than you are even expecting!

What a beautiful portrait. It makes me sad to think that any animal is at the end of their life. I remember when my Lady Bug died years ago...we all knew it was coming and held onto each moment.

((HUGS)), enjoy the time you have. They are like our babies....so heartbreaking.

We have a chocolate lab that has been with our family for 8 years ... my first baby! Beautiful pictures of a very sweet furry friend!

Our sweet lab, Charlie, will be 11 years-old in December. He's already had ACL surgery on one of his back legs, but when the other went a few months ago, we knew it wasn't fair to him to put him through another surgery and recovery time. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, but he often holds up that back leg when he walks.

Lyle was just saying last night how much he misses having a running partner. Charlie whines when he sees Lyle tying his running shoes. It makes us all sad. And to top it off, Olaf, our big dog, has bad hips and is moving even slower than Charlie, even though he's 5 years younger. I can totally see both of them going about the same time. That will be a BAD stretch for our family!

He looks like a beauty! Live it up!

Oh man. Sometimes I wonder if losing them to old age really is easier than losing them suddenly, like we did Maj. Either way, it is hard. Give him extra hugs for me!

Oh no! Even when you know it's coming, it doesn't make it any easier. :( I hope the rest of his time with you is spectacular and pain free!

I don't do well with this type of thing. Not even when it's not my dog. I'm so sorry to hear this, and that you don't have all-happy things going on in your life. Poor you and poor him.

That is so sweet and a little sad. It's so hard to lose a family pet. They are definitely a member of the family.

Lovely profile of your beautiful furry child. I do hope he has many more days with you - but I know that when they are ready to go, they are ready. I've been through that too many times already.

Take courage in the memories of your dear friend!!!

I definitely know that lump in your throat feeling. It's so hard when they're tired and the end is near. Soak up these days and memories with this special friend.

He is beautiful. I can't imagine the feelings I'll have when my Sam gets this age. When I hear about other dogs getting old, I cry because I know how painful it is and I just can't even think about that happening to Sam. I wish he could stay 4 forever.

Hi, You know dogs can live to be old and they are so loyal. My heart goes out to you as I know how you feel and what your going through. I have had many dogs. I do have two now. A Blue Healer (Wally ) and Ross who is a mix and on this farm 4 cats.
He is really beautiful and I pray he is just having a few bad days.

such an amazing picture! Totally made me cry. My sweet pup got sick this last week and it was a giant reminder of how much he does for this family. (He's good now)
