Before and After...A new photographer in da' house.

I'm gonna tell you right now.
I did not capture this picture.
Apparently L-boy has come down with a bad case of "camera shyness".
That or he's just being a royal toot!
He will no longer look in my direction when my sweet little Nikon is anywhere close to my face.
It is becoming a bit of a problem.
Seriously.
My dear son has eyes for no one but me.
Have I mentioned he loves his dear mother.
Except for when I unveil the camera.
I can dance a jig, bark, meow, or even whinny like a horse.
And believe me, I do.
But to no prevail.
HE.WILL.NOT.LOOK.AT.ME.
I love candids.
I don't need his full cooperation for every picture.
But, just every once in awhile, it would tickle my fancy.
Is that too much to ask?
So, the other day, after a very frustrating attempt, I passed the camera to D-man.

"Here! You do it!", I said in the sweetest tone possible.

And what do you know!
L-boy was so shocked to see his daddy with the camera, that he looked right at him.
Of course, D-man was quite proud of himself and immediately requested that I post this to my blog.
Have I mentioned that he enjoys being the center of attention?
So, I'm happy to give him the attention he so rightfully deserves.

before mess

Here is the picture after some editing in Lightroom.
I'm new to Lightroom.
But I like it alot.
Because I like light.
Who doesn't?
after mess
As much as I want to just fix colors and such.
I can't.
I always have to de-saturate, and make the picture look older than it is.
I really should be Laura Ingall's sister.

Yes..those are crumbs on his face.
I have a really difficult time painting those out.
I've got a "thing" for dirty faces.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

And now, let's all give D-man a round of applause!

On a completely different note.
We watched You, Me and Dupree the other night.
The resemblance was un-canny.
I'm thinking maybe another haircut is in order?
comparison
But in the words of Dupree...
This is just L-boy, in all of his L-boyness.
I don't want him to lose that "ness"!

haha I've tried all the animal noises behind my Nikon as well. I have since switched to bodily noises, you know, toots, sneezes, Really Big Toots and Elaborate excuse me's. Yep for the moment those noises are just stink'n hilarious and always result in huge smiles from Wes and Felicity at least looks at me. :)

Good job D-man!

A Nikon? Really?

I'm not so sure we can still be friends!!! ;)

Tell D-man that he rocks!!! Great job!

Why do I think I might want Lightroom now?!?! ;)

He is soooo cute! Those eyes! And I have a "thing" for that floppy blonde hair look... that's how my little boy rolls and it makes my insides go all squishy. Precious - good job, Hubs! (And gorgeous processing!)

That lil'L-Boy is so precious! I love the story that he won't even look at you when the camera is in hand - lil'stinker! But what a fanTAStic shot D-Man caught, huh? Whooo Hooo! (shout out for the D-Man!)

Really cute comparison, too! I love Mr. Wilson - But, L-Boy is cuter!!!! ;)

Great picture D-man...whoo hoo! Make sure you tell him that so he feels the love and attention :) I love your editing...it's something I want to start trying to do.

I know your pain. My son is the same way. I don't know how many pensive profile shots that I have that he seems to be deep in thought. Actually he is telling me to go away. Great editing. His eyes look amazing.

Oh my. His eyes are captivating!

I love me some lightroom! Your little man is precious!

You know what I've found? If I don't use my viewfinder.... if I switch it to the LCD screem, so they can see my face, the kids don't seem to notice I'm taking their photo..... I capture them a lot more naturally that way!

But, I love this one....very sweet, and what beautiful eyes he has!

OK, he looks WAY cuter than any movie star...I'm just sayin'.

Those EYES are phenomenal! Sometimes the little boys get the eyes and lashes, the girls get ripped off! I love this pic of him.

Oh my - those eyes! Love the desaturated look. Thanks for sharing!

Soooo cute!!! Boy, I can relate to kids that refuse to cooperate. We don't eat much candy in this house so I bribe them with M&Ms sometimes to get them to let me take their pics.

Thanks for stopping at my blog! I never would have expected THE Julie from The Peanut Gallery to comment on my little blog. ;)

I love your processing, it really makes your boy's eyes pop. Actually, his whole face is lit up nicely. This one should be printed and framed.

Great edit!!! I love his hair...he is just too cute. My little one won't look at the camera anymore either! I am going to have to try some of these suggestions.

That hair? Those eyes??!! He is too dang cute!!

Keegan does the whole "I don't want you to take my picture" thing often and it drives me nuts. I think his hair is cute & I think it's hysterical you are comparing him to Owen Wilson. LOL! Maybe just a trim?

Love your before and after shots. You do so well with your edits. I love them all. Want to edit some for me?
Great shot that hubs captured too. Love the eyes.

He did great! Love the edit...although I gotta admit. I HATE lightroom. Really. I really, really do. It's all due to user error but I am ignoring that right now.

First off, don't you dare touch that boy's hair. I LOVE it. LOVE IT. Like a lot love it.

Second, what did you do in Lightroom to that one? Desaturate and brighten with exposure I am guessing. But what else? I LOVE it too.

Third, and maybe most important...people flock to you. Do you realize that?

Stacey said...

LOVE IT! Seriously! He is adorable and I want to reach through the computer and kiss those little cheeks! I'm with you on the crumbs. I can't take them out either. It makes it more authentic. I mean really, a boy without crumbs is just not a boy!

Those eyes are stunning! Yes - I don't want my guys to lose their little boy "ness" either! However, they all start hiding from the camera at some time!

I am en editor by nature. I think it's half the fun of taking pictures.

Me too! I'm the lady making monkey noises and contorting myself behind the lens! And Itty Bit is the one mumbling under his breath that his mom cannot afford therapy (he's 4... just sayin')

LOVE this post, and LOVE this picture! Edit away - can't change his undeniable cuteness :)

And *ahem*, you can ignore the whole Nikon vs. Canon thing going on at our blog recently. It's only because Julie Foursons teases me relentlessly for not having a Nikon (blame it on the economy and my tiny hands).

You shoot marvelously!

I also love to age photographs and I think it's kinda funny that your son will look at your husband, but not you. I guess you do whatever you gotta do to get a shot. I'm now following you...and I'm not sure why I wasn't following you before. I see you everywhere!
